A recent article published in the Jerusalem Post discussed the current situation in Egypt with the upcoming parliamentary elections, the presidential elections and post Mubarak speculations. The paper described the local media as notably refraining from discussing the thorny issue which has been reverberating through Western media in recent months namely President Hosni Mubarak’s state of health and post-Mubarak Egypt.

Worldwide interest has had media assert that change is inevitable and the speculative scenarios that follow are many as many observers assume that Egypt’s domestic politics will experience intense transformation after Mubarak’s death. Others presume and many in Israel worry that Egypt’s international alliances could alter in a so called post- Mubarak era.

Many Egyptians have never witnessed a period without Mubarak's control as he has been President for nearly 30 years and Egypt’s younger population has only been involved in limited political participation, mainly sham elections with rigged results and no formidable opposition parties apart from the Muslim Brotherhood movement which enjoys wide popularity in the Egyptian streets.
