Dr. Abdel-Halim Kandil, General Coordinator for the Kefaya movement criticized the Egyptian regime describing them as reaching the lowest possible moral standard with their constant   defiance of the constitution and continued detention of political detainees

The remarks were made during a seminar held last Sunday, at the Press Syndicate, in solidarity with Magdy Hussein, the secretary-general of the Labor Party who was denied parole despite serving three quarters of his sentence

Dr. Mohamed Beltagy the Assistant Secretary for the Muslim Brotherhood's parliamentary bloc agreed with Kandil ascertaining that the continued incarceration of Magdy Hussein was a complete violation and breach of the law and freedom of right. He added that the targeting of political opposition demonstrates that the regime is incapable of accepting any political opposition and clearly has no intention for change. He condemned the arrest of activists mainly from the MB who were involved in raising awareness and collecting signatures in favour of the seven demands for change. The continued campaign of arrests which comes ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled to take place in October has so far harvested 15 members from the group including MB leader Ali Abdul Fattah from Alexandria after storming their houses and confiscating personal belongings and confiscating documents.
