In an interview with state owned "Al Ahram" newspaper, Abul Magd stressed that it was significant that the regime corrects a wrong, which took place during the drafting of the constitution years ago 
 
He supported the call by political opposition including Muslim Brotherhoodurged, for judicial supervision and monitoring of the upcoming parliamentary elections among other demands, adding  "I support the return of judicial supervision of elections  because I do not believe there is integrity during any of the  elections" 

The former minister maintained that he believed Egypt lacked the culture to preserve human rights, and citizens remain largely unaware of their constitutional rights. He emphasized that it was necessary that reports submitted by the National Council for Human Rights be respected and efforts should be made to improve the situation. He continued that the state would have credibility if it demonstrates to the nation that it is paying attention to the human rights, and that it is working to improve its status in Egypt
