Obama hosts second Iftar for Muslims
President Barak Obama hosted an Iftar (meal for Muslims who break fast at sunset) for a second time since his coming into power.

 President Barak Obama hosted an Iftar (meal for Muslims who break fast at sunset) for a second time since his coming into power.

He made remarks during Iftar reflecting on the importance of religious freedom as one of the founding principles of the US Nation. He stressed that  the best way to honor the place of faith in the lives of  people was to protect their freedom to practice religion alleging that The First Amendment of the US  Constitution established was  the freedom of religion as the law of the land adding that  "the  right has been upheld ever since".
He expressed his belief Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in the country adding that it  included the right to build the controversial  place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. Barak criticized Al Qaeda’s cause describing it as not Islam but rather a gross distortion of Islam
 
The President also reflected on the many contributions Muslim Americans made to the country emphasizing that the nation was strengthened by millions of Muslim Americans.  In his speech he stressed that Muslim Americans protect the communities as police officers and firefighters and first responders commending the Muslim American clerics who have spoken out against terror and extremism, reaffirming that Islam teaches that one must save human life, not take it. 
Many distinguished and notable guests attended the dinner at the white house.

What Muslim voices speaking out against violence? That is one of most Americans main concerns -- we do not hear those voices. If they really wanted to be heard, they would be. They are not, possibly because they are afraid of their own extremists, as are we.
