Opposition parties in Jordan expressed concern over the increasing number of objections submitted concerning the voter lists for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to the Civil Status and Passports Department a total of 400,000 objections have been filed over the voter lists for scheduled November 9 polls.

Secretary General for the Muslim Brotherhood offshoot the Islamic Action Front Hamza Mansour asserted that the National Coalition of Opposition Parties called on the government to immediately solve the problems. He added that it was necessary the government use a voter list that reflects demographic realities on the political arena. The statement was signed by seven opposition factions.

The statement called for holding the party accountable for the evident rigging in former elections. Mansour highlighted that the number of objections validates the group's boycott of the elections, where he called on the government to rectify the situation.

The IAF movement had announced earlier this month that it would not take part in the elections alleging the government lacked the intentions to conduct elections with integrity.
