The political activist highlighted that the bid did not necessarily spell inheritance and his signing only reflected his belief that every Egyptian has the right to run for elections that are free, fair and under international and local supervision.

Magdy al-Kordi, coordinator of the pro-Gamal coalition, asserted that he had approached Dr. Ibrahim to get better acquainted with various political forces, exchanging views and reaching agreement on a single presidential candidate. He added that his next meeting will be with Muslim Brotherhood chairman Dr. Mohamed Badie.

Dr. Ibrahim, who holds US citizenship, had spent three years in prison for allegedly tarnishing Egypt's reputation and was later acquitted by the Egyptian Court of Cessation.
