Over at the Hudson Institute’s Hudson New York blog, Khaled Abu Toameh writes that Hosni Mubarak’s goal in attending the Middle East peace summit was to build support in the West for his son, Gamal: “He went to Washington not to seek peace between Palestinians and Israelis, but to pave the way for his son’s rise to power.”  According to Toameh, “Such backing from the US and other Western countries is even more important than winning the support of the Egyptians, whose opinion doesn’t matter anyway.”
