State security officials continue to abuse the 'emergency law' torturing citizens and confiscating their belongings while detaining them indefinitely. The latest publicised bout has prompted Lawyer Ahmed Ghorab, to file a lawsuit against each of the Minister of Interior and the Head of State Security Investigations, Head of the headquarters and Head of Security in 6 October District.

The case will be filed against them as they are responsible for the torture of Ahmed el-Tayesh by state security officers in Kerdasa.

In a statement, Ghorab told Ikhwanweb that according to Article 346 of the International law for human rights which was in fact ratified by Egypt prohibits arbitrary detention without justification according to Article 42 of the International Law on Human Rights.

Article 57 of the Egyptian Constitution also provides that

“Any assault on individual freedom or on the inviolability of private life of citizens and any other public rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and the law shall be considered a crime, whose criminal and civil lawsuit is not liable to prescription. The State shall grant a fair compensation to the victim of such an assault".
