Freedoms committee at the Egyptpian journalists syndicate in cooperation with The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information and a group of Syrian and Egyptian activists will hold a solidarity meeting with Tal al-Mallouhi , the student blogger detained in Syria since December 2009. Tal is a high school student , born on 4/11/1991. On her, blog she writes poetry for Palestine. She was arrested by SSI Damascus on 27/12/2009 for her activity on the internet . Shortly before her detention, on 6/9/2009, she wrote the poem, “Jerusalem, Queen of All Cities”, on her blog http://talmallohi.blogspot.com/”. Tal is still detained in an unknown location . Her Family was not allowed any visits and some Syrian websites spread uncertain news about her likely death of physical and psychological torture. Nevertheless, the Syrian government will not reveal Tal’s fate or detention location and will not respond to pleas calling to set Tal Free. The Syrian government insists on violating citizens’ rights in freedom of expression. It shows that Syria has no intention of taking positive steps to improve its record on freedoms. Syrian prisons now are known to have the oldest prisoner of opinion in the Arab world , Haitham al-Maleh ,80 years old, and Tal al-Mallouhi , the youngest prisoner of opinion ,19 years old. On 19/9/2010 The Syrian ambassador in Cairo refused to receive the activists’ delegation in order to give him a letter addressed to the Syrian President urging him to release Tal.
