Egypt: Gov’t Rounds Up Another Group of MB Leaders
On Sunday Jan. 14, 2007, Egyptian security forces began another cycle of crackdown against members of the Muslim Brotherhood arresting Dr. Mohamed Ali Beshr, a member of the MB Executive Bureau and former member of parliament, and Dr. Essam Hashish, Engineering professor at Cairo University and one of MB leaders in Giza.

Mohamed Ali Beshr and a group of Muslim Brotherhood Businessmen Arrested
On Sunday Jan. 14, 2007, Egyptian security forces began another cycle of crackdown against members of the Muslim Brotherhood arresting Dr. Mohamed Ali Beshr, a member of the MB Executive Bureau and former member of parliament, and Dr. Essam Hashish, Engineering professor at Cairo University and one of MB leaders in Giza.
 
Police also arrested a number of businessmen and MB leaders in the governorates of Cairo and Alexandria, including Medhat Al-Haddad, Director of Arabiya for Construction Co., Osama Abdul Mohsen Sharby, Director of Egilica Tourism Co., Dr. Abd Al-Rahman Saudi, Director of Urban Development Co., and Dr. Khaled Awda, a businessman and a professor at the Faculty of Science, Asyut University and the son of martyr Abdul Qader Awda, MB legend who was executed by president Nasser in the 1950s
 
The new detentions among Muslim Brotherhood members are part of fierce government campaign against the group which began by the arrest of Khayrat Al Shater, Deputy Chairman, and extended to many high profile figures in society including scientists, college professors, and businessmen.
 
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Mohamed Ali Beshr was born on  Feb. 14, 1951, in Menoufiya; he is an assistant professor at the Department of Energy, Faculty of Engineering, Menoufiya University.
