Former US President Bush's book Decision Points, which reveals and highlights mistakes made by him during the Iraq war campaign alleges that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak had informed Bush that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. In his book he mentioned other individuals whom he asserted were behind his decision to invade Iraq including intelligence officials from the Middle East who knew Saddam Hussein. Bush in his book revealed that Mubarak had informed Tommy Franks that Iraq had biological weapons and was certain to use them on US troops stressing that the Egyptian president refused to make the allegation in public for fear of inciting the Arab street. Bush maintained that he had been pressured and there was uncertainty and hurt in the economy and concern among America's Middle East allies. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Washington told him that allies in the Middle East wanted a decision. He added that Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Elie Wiesel a holocaust survivor also had a deep impact on his war decision quoting him as being responsible and having a moral obligation to act against evil. In his memoirs Bush describes his feelings on finding no weapons as sickening. He believed however that the consequence of the American occupation was a chance for democracy to take root on the Persian Gulf. He also defended his war decision on Afghanistan stressing it was necessary to uproot al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He failed to illustrate any remorse on the lives lost during the wars ending his publishing with the fact that he was comfortable with the fact that he would not be around to hear the verdict on his presidency.
