5181 Candidates to Contest in Parliamentary Polls
A report by Egypt's Higher Electoral Commission announced that approximately 5,181 candidates, including 380 women, will take part in the parliamentary elections slated for Sunday, November 28, 2010.

 A report by Egypt's Higher Electoral Commission announced that approximately 5,181 candidates, including 380 women, will take part in the parliamentary elections slated for Sunday, November 28, 2010.


Candidates will contest for 508 seats with 64 seats allotted for women. Ten seats will be assigned by the president.


Parties fielding candidates include the ruling National Democratic Party, and Al-Wafd, Nasserist and Al-Tagammu parties. The popular Muslim Brotherhood group will field its candidates as independents.
