Egyptian security forces stormed the houses of 10 Muslim Brotherhood leaders at dawn in the sea port city of Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt.

Stepping up hostilities against the political opposition ahead of the upcoming election, the raid resulted in the arrest of 5 leaders of the MB ranks. The arrests come against the backdrop of escalating violations by security apparatus against MB candidates, campaigners and supporters.

Since the group's announcement in early October, security officials have hauled in close to 1100 MB members in their arbitrary rounds and unjust ventures.

The detainees include:
Islamic preacher Abu Zaid Mohamed, Fadl al-Mawla, Dr Adel El-Qebary, Mohammed Hindawi, and Ahmed Shoman.
