RAMALLAH,Unknown assailants, believed to be Jewish extremists, hurled an Israeli army grenade at the fence surrounding the Israeli Hadarim jail that accommodates around 800 Palestinian prisoners, mostly old serving leaders, on Wednesday morning. A spokesman for the Israeli prison services (IPS) said that police were investigating the incident, adding that the incident was not cleared yet. No one was hurt but slight material damage was sustained in the fence, the IPS said in a statement, adding that prisoners saw a number of persons fleeing the scene but the guards could not apprehend them. Palestinian human rights sources pointed out that noted Fatah leader Marwan Al-Barghouthi was interned in that jail. |
