Dr. Morsy: “The MB’s withdrawal from the elections came as the regime insisted on challenging the will of the people. Dr. Mohamed Morsy, media spokesman and member of the group's Executive bureau stressed that the MB’s decision to participate in the elections was the result of total conviction and unanimity of the group's Shura Council.

The decision to withdraw from the elections came as a result of the regime’s insistence on challenging the people’s will, rigging the elections, the government’s violence and a general atmosphere that does not allow fair elections to happen.
Dr. Morsy described the regime as weak, fragile and unstable.

In a TV interview with Al-Jazeera satellite channel on Wednesday, Dr. Morsy denied any link between the decisions to withdraw with the decision to participate. He stressed that the withdrawal was a response to the criminal acts of the regime and its security system.

In response to the claims by significant figures from the ruling party that what happened is a breakdown of the banned organization, Dr. Morsy commented saying that Egypt knows the MB well and they are a legitimate group that operates according to the law and constitution. Instead, the ruling system is the one which should be outlawed after the massive fraud that happened during the elections.

On the political activities following the MB’s withdrawal, Dr. Morsy responded saying that the MB has been involved in politics for decades and their approach is peaceful and constitutional and they work as independents because the regime insists on not granting them a license to form a political party.
