A decision to ban parliament’s correspondent from attending a committee meeting triggered angry responses.

Chancellor Intisar Naseem, chairman of the Commission on Human Rights, claimed that the meeting was closed to correspondents which raised anger and resentment since the ban was an unprecedented move.

Ironically, the meeting was called to develop an agenda for the committee during the parliamentary session, raising questions concerning the secrecy of the meeting.
The Committee had in fact informed the Chamber’s Media Department of the meeting and journalists went to attend the meeting, only to be informed that they were unwelcome since it was to be held behind closed doors.
