Amr Mousa the Arab League Secretary General denounced foreign attempts to exploit the New Year eve criminal attack on Alexandria’s church on New Year’s Eve.

He criticised the notion of any intervention by any Western countries, including the European Union, who described the attack as highlighting a presumed threatened situation of Christians in the mainly Muslim Arab world. He ascertained that he rejected any potential exploitation of the attacks on Christians in the Arab world to establish a policy of intervention.

In a statement he confirmed that Christians were part of the Arab world, and should be provided with security. He added everyone was opposed to the terrorist acts.

Preceding his statement were declarations by, Ramzy Izzaldin Ramzy, Egyptian ambassador to Berlin, who pointed out that extremists were everywhere.

He argued extremists are on both sides: Muslims and Christians stressing their aim is to disrupt societies through violent means.

Mousa confirmed that all of Egypt was united in its policies to combat extremism in all its forms.
