AlKarama for Human Rights threatened to address the UN regarding what it called “suppression of the opposition” and intellectuals and trying them before exceptional courts in violation of international conventions and treaties to which the Egyptian government is a signatory.

In its statement of which Ikhwanweb received a copy, AlKarama described the verdicts issued by the Supreme State Security Court last Saturday against five Islamic thinkers from Egypt and Saudi Arabia as “unjust”. They were convicted in the case of the “international networking of the Muslim Brotherhood”. AlKarama called on the Egyptian government to compensate the defendants for the material and moral damage it caused them and their families due to the unjust trial against them.

AlKarama called the Egyptian government to review their court files which are being filed against leading thinkers and opposition in Egypt. It also called for the immediate release of Dr. Osama Soliman and granting amnesty to all the defendants in the case, clearing them of all charges.

It also criticized the inability of victims of the Supreme State Security Emergency Court to appeal before a higher court.
