Ikhwanweb, the Muslim Brotherhood’s official English website editor in chief Khaled Hamza  has stated that the current uprising in Egypt is a revolution of the Egyptian people and is by no means linked to any Islamic tendencies, despite allegations nor can it be described as Islamic.

Hamza stressed that the revolution is peaceful and calls solely for reform and a democratic civil state initiated by the youth through the social networking service Facebook and is far removed from any Islamist groups.

He criticized allegations and reiterations by some countries that the uprising was Islamic and denounced claims by the Iranian Supreme Leader Mr. Khamenai that the protests are a sign of an Islamic Awakening inspired by the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Hamza maintained that the Egyptian protests are not an 'Islamic' uprising, but a mass protest against an unjust, autocratic regime which includes Egyptians from all walks of life and all religions and sects.

In a related note the elected President of the National Council of Resistance in Iran Maryam Rajavi denounced attempts by Khamenai to attribute Egypt’s uprising to Iran, describing it as a desperate attempt to advocate support of fundamentalism and terrorism, describing them as the worst enemy of Islam and Muslims adding, “The day will come when they will be forced to let go of the name of Islam”.

This Website is not representing the MB Adam
Its very astonishing that a site which claims to represent the MB is quoting Maryam Rajavi, the infamous member of the terrorist organization MKO. I'm sure the REAL MB doesn't make such comments about Iran's Supreme Leader either. None of the things about MB's reaction to Ayatollah Khamenei are on the official site of MB Ikwanonline.com

Shame on you Hassan al-Banna
Khaled Hamza is an idiot. An MB member who swears that all that is happening has nothing to do with Islam. Why don't join the homosexuals in Kefayah to pursue your "civil rights". Also nice quote from the cult leader Maryam Rajavi. Idiot...

Islamic or non-Islamic? Bahar
Assalam Ayatullah Khamenei didnot say that Egyption protests are only Islamic. By Islamic awakening he meant what the majority of people of Egypt are seeking is true Islam and it doesnot mean to reject or neglect other religion's rights and positions. Never doubt that you won't achieve anything like the wonderful unique Islamic Revolution in Iran, not because you have non-muslims-that we also have had in Iran, but since you lack the substance of any uprising and victory,i.e., a unique strong leader. You'll never succeed because you lack examples like Imam Al-Hussain and his revolution- what even Gandhi of India had and you don't.It is everybody's duty to fight for Islam, to help it rule over the world, just what our dear prophet did and what the Imam Mahdi will do.

Egypt Adib
Iran\\\'s revolution of 1979 also was a revolution of people against oppression and dictatorship in nature. But look at the result right now! Another tyranny is ruling the country in the name of Islam. I am not against Islam that means peace but I pray that the revolution in Egypt doesn\\\'t share the same fate with that of Iran! Amen.

Your website should be ashamed. Mr. Khamenei supports you and you go and quote Maryam Rajavi! She is a terrorist and murderer. You are sick people and you deserve to fail.

The "National Council of Resistance in Iran" (MEK) is a Terrorist group that killed thousands of innocent Iranian and Iraqi people since 1979.

Ashamed Mohammad Reza
I am very saddened by your article. If MB is sincere in regards to justice as Sheikh Hassan Albanna was, it would never quote a terrorist like Maryam Rajavi. I will only attribute this article as a result of the pressure MB is currently under from the propaganda apparatus from dictatorial secular elements in their society.

Lier Iman
This website is a fraud. You are a lier and do not represent the MB whatsoever. Mr. Helbawi THANKED "Imam Khamenei" for his support of the Egyptian Revolution. Additionally, the MB has always maintained they seek a government based on Islamic principles.

a first-time web visit Russ
Appreciate the sanity and clarity here - am in US and many here are nuts and ranting and raving about an Islamic Extremist coup in Egypt. Freedom and hope for EVERY Egyptian is the point (of the movement) though and I support that.

Wonderful except the Rajavi quote Aziz Niran
It is wonderful to hear the Egyptian people reject the attempts of Iran's dictators to tie their regime to this people's revolution. My only concern is the favorable quoting of the Rajavi cult, which doesn't speak for Iran any more than Khamanei and his pasdaran thugs. Long Live Egyptian democracy!

good insult to Khameini freedomlover
Ha ha, quite funny, these 'insulted' iranian supporters of their fachist regime, just like Mubarak's ! Very ironic, how Egypt is more like Iran than America or France (where I live and enjoy it very much). I don't like islam or any religion, I got free of mine and all irrational beliefs quite late in life, but I wish the best for all Egyptians, whether believers or not. MB, I hope you are not wishing for charia regime, but I don't think you will ever get it, because young people today including yourselves know that a secular state is best and keep religion as a private matter. Take France as a good example ! courage for tomorrow and next few days, Mubarak (and Sulaiemane) can't stay for long. I watch your country every day on international channels. Tonight, I was outraged to hear Sulaiemane tell people not to watch foreign channels, how dare he tell people what to do !

Well DONE!! Khosro Jahed
We , the Iranian people have said our saying for the past 30 YEARS!! First congratulations for the Uprising, Second, dont bother reading the smear comments by Iranian Inteligence on ur site! This is not new for us! They are afraid of the Mojahedin - PMOI- this has been going on for the past 30 years because they know that PMOI is against Killing and ruling like a king in the name of GOD. Iranian people said "DOWN WITH khamenei" many times last in 2009! But ofcourse to stand against this Fascist religious despot is do much different . SO take our exeprience and Dont get the carb offerned by Khamenei and his idiot mullahs under the name of Islam. This regime is the best liar and decptive moran in the present history. Thanks for standinf firm against the nonesense said . This is because you are standing firm against the "KAFIR" kahmenei who poses as if he represents GOD on earth

Egypt Majid Farhad
Congratulations on your fantastic insight on the anti-Islamic inhumane Mullahs regime in Iran. The best answer any group could have ever given to the stupid message from Khamenei who wants to export Valaiat Faqih to Egypt was to bring a quote from the leader of the Iranian resistance Mrs. Rajavi. You have shown you stand with the Iranian people and not their killers. Reading the comments of Khamenei's thugs you can see how Islamic!!? they really are.It is now clear when they send their murderers to Syria to kill the peaceful Syrian demonstrators where they really stand. The day that they will be brought to justice by the Iranian people is near. All the power to you in your revolution and God Bless You.
