Security Crackdown targets passing constitutional amendments: Aboul-Fotouh
 

Dr. Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Executive Bureau member, said that the security crackdown aims at covering government’s ratifying constitutional amendments.

"This new crackdown is a continuation of the previous crackdown that targeted a number of MB leaders topped by engineer Khayrat Al Shater, in order to exercise pressures on the Muslim Brotherhood group to pass the constitutional amendments that aims at establishing and maintaining the authoritarian rule under the current Egyptian regime", said  Dr. Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, in a statement to Ikhwanweb, folowing a new security crackdown that targeted a number of Muslim Brotherhood’s companies and businessmen.

Aboul-Fotouh added that these constitutional amendments benefit only the regime and they prevent a circulation of power, cancel a judicial supervision over the elections so that they can be easily rigged, in addition to making the elections based on party slates so as to exclude the Muslim Brotherhood and any real opposition from any coming elections.

Aboul-Fotouh considered these crackdowns as a backtrack on the promises of carrying out political reforms and that the security service became the only body controlling power, aiming at removing any real oppostion from the political arena, in order to pass these amendments.

Aboul-Fotouh wished that removing the real oppostion had come through carrying out more reforms or through an actual presence of the ruling party, but this takes place through detentions, travel bans and shutting down companies, things that confirm the regime’s clear plans for imposing more control and domination over the institutions in the country.

Aboul-Fotouh pointed out that these constitutional amendments are definitely dedicated to the service of the file of Tawreeth "heridatory transfer of rule", whether they be for a certain person or for the same body that has been controlling Egypt for the past 25 years.

It is worth mentioning that the security forces carried out- Sunaday at dawn- a crackdown in which it arrested some people, the most prominent of them are five Muslim Brotherhood businessmen and have raided their companies and sealed them off: the MB businessmen are:

Hassan Malek: Owns many Egyptian successful projects.

Dr. Mohamed Hafez: Manager of Hayah Pharmacetical company.

Ahmed Ashraf: Board manager of the Islamic Publishing House.

Aktham Al Tawil: Manager of Dar Al Bashaer publishing house.

Ahmed Sousha: Owns contracting company
