Following pressures by opposition Egypt’s Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq submitted his resignation which was received well by all opposition trends.

The Armed Forces supreme council accepted the resignation and in turn appointed former Transport Minister Engineer Essam Sharaf to form government.

According to the Muslim Brotherhood the country’s most popular and largest opposition the newly appointed Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, is known to have a 'good reputation.'

Sharaf, an engineering university professor, had handed in his resignation after serving as a minister of transport under the deposed Dictator Mubarak after being unable to work under the corrupt regime.

According to the MB’s Deputy General-Secretary Rashad Bayoumi the group is eager to see how Sharaf will perform and respond to the demands of the people.
