Former IM pleads not guilty to money laundering charges
Habib Al-Adly Egypt’s former interior minister has pleaded not guilty to corruption charges on Saturday. Al-Adly is the first senior minister of the former ousted Mubarak’s corrupt regime to be tried in court.

Habib Al-Adly Egypt’s former interior minister has pleaded not guilty to corruption charges on Saturday. Al-Adly is the first senior minister of the former ousted Mubarak’s corrupt regime to be tried in court. Al- Adly denied all accusations of money laundering and unlawful acquisition of public money telling the court twice that it is untrue and it did not happen. He is currently detained pending investigations into money laundering charges, following orders by Egypt’s Attorney General, Abdel Meguid Mahmoud. Al-Adly also denied responsibility for issuing orders to kill demonstrators using live ammunition on January 28, during an earlier investigation. Other accusations charged include ordering police to withdraw from the streets and allowing prisoners to escape, causing lawlessness and intimidating citizens. The case is scheduled to continue on April 2. |
