Egypt's FM Warns Israel of Rushing into Military Action in Gaza

Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Elaraby warned of escalating tension between Israel and the Palestinians, stressing that escalating violence will not be in the interest of both parties, or peace and stability.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Elaraby warned of escalating tension between Israel and the Palestinians, stressing that escalating violence will not be in the interest of both parties, or peace and stability.

Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Menha Bakhoum said Elaraby "asked Israel to exercise self restraint and warned it against rushing into a military operation in Gaza".

He also warned others-- an apparent reference to Palestinian groups -- from giving Israel any excuse to use violence, adding that Egypt rejected and condemned violence against civilians.
