Top Muslim Brotherhood lawyer Abdul Monem Abdul Maqsoud has stated that the Prosecutor General has ordered that confiscated funds be returned to their owners.

Funds estimated at tens of millions of Egyptian pounds were unjustly confiscated from the MB deputy chairman Eng. Khairat Al-Shater, Businessman Hassan Malek and Dr. Ossama Suleiman after they were arrested and a large proportion is expected to be returned following the rule.

Abdul Maqsoud confirmed that necessary procedures are currently underway for the rest of the leaders’ assets to be returned.

The MB leaders were tried by a military tribunal despite receiving numerous civilian court acquittals which prompted the deposed Mubarak to refer the men to military court contrary to the constitution.
