The unprecedented and unexpected detention of the former President Hosni Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, will undoubtedly have its affects on the political scene both in Egypt and abroad, according to MB leader Dr. Mohamed Beltagy.

Speaking to Ikhwanweb Beltagy also a member of the Revolution’s Youth coalition confirmed that the step is a positive move by the military illustrating that the revolutionists are not restricted with their demands and that the military is one with the people. Nobody is above the law and the army has demonstrated that it truly is there for the people.

Beltagy described the events as a defining moment in Egypt’s history with the people’s ability to make a change and its calling for the country’s leader to be accountable and stand trial.

He added that the demonstrators proved that their demands could be met stating that there still remain calls by the coalition which they consider their rights as Egyptian citizens mainly:

The dismissal of governors and heads of universities

The dissolution of local councils

The dissolving of the National Democratic Party and Its headquarters restored to public ownership

The prevention of any attempts to evade the dismantling

The withdrawal of the nomination of Mustapha Fiqi for the post of Secretary General of Arab League
