Deputy leader for the Muslim Brotherhood, Engineer Khairat Al Shater, stated that the role of the group is not related to the role of the newly founded Freedom and Justice Party.

During a conference organized by the group in Alexandria Shater stressed that the MB would not abandon its primary purpose for the benefit of the party.

He refuted questions that suggested turning the group into a party, explaining that political parties are based on Western doctrines possessing a certain nature. He added changing the MB’s objective was not a topic open for discussion

Al Shater confirmed that an opinion poll will be sent to the group’s governorate administrative offices concerning their vision of the MB’s future and how to further develop it. He added that the poll will also be available to the public via the internet stating that the group is open to suggestions on how to improve, develop, progress and advance itself.
