Muslim Brotherhood (MB) candidate for the Journalists Syndicate elections Hany Al-Mekawy expressed his disappointment after court decision halting their elections.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Mekawy stated although he respects the judiciary's decisions, it appears certain entities wish to hinder the electoral process that will not be in their favor.  He stressed it was important that the Journalists Syndicate to interfere and mitigate the problem as soon as possible and schedule a final date for the elections.
Meanwhile, the Journalists Movement  for Islah, which includes MB youth, called on the syndicate to disclose the names of those responsible for calling off the election which was scheduled for October 14.
The syndicate's General Assembly accused the dissolved state security of pushing for the decision. It issued a statement calling for the elections to be rescheduled as soon as possible and to refrain from further delay.
The statement ended by  calling on all candidates to make a greater effort and to place the demands of the General Assembly at the top of their priority list, and focus in the upcoming period to work towards running free, fair and transparent elections for an independent syndicate.
