The war of rumours and flying accusations aimed at the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) in Egypt started like an organized campaign. The latest of these rumours is a claim, by a candidate from a competing party, that one of the dissolved National Party’s figures – Dr. Mo’mena Kamil – is on the candidate list of the FJP in Cairo’s fourth constituency.

This deliberately confuses the above name with the somewhat similar name of Dr. Omaima Kamil, professor of Public Health at the University of Cairo and the real candidate of the FJP, and who has nothing to do with that other Kamil in any way whatsoever. Read More

In response, Dr. Osama Yassin, Assistant Secretary-General of the FJP, stressed that indeed the real election battle is with the remnants of the defunct National Party and no other.

In a statement, he told IkhwanWeb that the FJP respects all others, and is fighting an honest, noble battle with them. It will, therefore, play no part in the war of rumours, and will not pay attention to obviously false allegations, and will exercise political work ethics.

Dr. Yassin also emphasised that the FJP will always deal with any abuse, sabotage or disruption of its campaign through legal means only.
