Mahmoud Amer, Assistant Secretary-General of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) in Giza, denied using humanitarian aid for the community to influence the votes of the electorate.

Amer pointed out, in the program ‘From Cairo’ on the ‘Nile’ news channel: "We’ve always been in touch with all segments of society, and we’ve been developing our communications with the community for a long time."

Amer added: "We never used that our assistance or initiatives to win voters, as others do. Indeed, a large proportion of those people our associations deal with are not even by the electoral register to start with."

He continued: "The problem is not that you give; but that you give in order to influence the votes of the electorate."

Amer stressed that the party is committed not to use religious slogans in election campaigns. Meanwhile, some liberal and leftist candidates are using some Quranic Verses and Sayings of the Prophet in their elections campaigns; and no-one has criticised them.

Amer stressed also that the party's slogan “We Bear Good for Egypt” is perfectly constitutional and legal; and does not carry any religious overtones.
