Speaking to Ikhwanweb, Erian added: “The principle of emergency or outstanding hearings is rejected by the FJP and civilians should be brought before the normal judiciary or attorney general”.

He explained that Alaa Seif is a veteran activist and his activities were evident against the former regime. He added, “What is currently practiced against activists spoils the image of the revolution. These activists should be valued not punished”.

El-Erian ascertained that there is a certain minority closely affiliated to the former regime set on inciting crisis in Egypt. “The governing authorities should be targeting this entity which had a role in fuelling such clashes including the feud between the lawyers and judges and police troops and personnel rather than targeting the political activists”.

Activist Alaa Abdul Fatah was sentenced to 15 days in military detention pending investigation on the backdrop of the Maspero clashes. Bahaa Saber from the Kefaya movement was also interrogated by military prosecutors.

Tens of activists in coordination with April 6 movement, organised a stand Sunday in front of  the military prosecutor’s objecting to the military tribunal of civilians and activists Alaa Abdul Fatah, Bahaa Saber and Mohamed Adel.

The protestors chanted slogans and raised banners slamming the military trials and called for the release of Ali Sultan, who had been arrested from in front of the Defense Ministry during Friday’s stand for ‘Restoring Revolution’.
