The official Israeli report that revealed serious defects and weak points inside the army and security services is still causing a storm of reactions in the circles of the Israeli public opinion.
The so called State Comptroller devoted his last report on the security facilities and services in which he shed light on a massive weakness in the process of qualifying army leaders pointing out that 82 % of the Major Generals in addition 68 % of the Brigadier Generals degree weren’t qualified in the National Command College.
Also, the report revealed there was false logs around the amounts of weapons and ammunition in the stores in addition to the state of confusion in the process of planning operations, pointing out that the Israeli army runs its institutions in a superficial and hasty manner that focuses on external aspects only.
According to the report, three out of every four Israeli officers who participated in the aggression on Lebanon did not complete their education in any military school related to war, its management or strategic affairs.
The report directed sharp criticism to the institute responsible for war studies and fight theories and the courses of training senior officers, explaining that the latest qualification course was held in 2002 and that the institute did not issue any book or study within its specialization during the last 12 years.
Also, it directed sharp criticisms to the military organization responsible for caring for widows and children of dead soldiers, indicating that it got lost and failed in performing its duties due to internal disputes and misadministration.
The report pointed also that the class of officers is the basis of the quality and performance of the army, adding " due to lacking professional printouts in the army for years, the information over managing the battle was confined to a few and was oral only".
The report included a chapter about corruption inside the Israeli security institution, revealing that huge salaries and wages are given to some officers and experts and that some of them have been paid their salaries although they are in long holidays abroad.
School for the army
The report reveals, for the first time, data about the most classified site in Israel, the nuclear reactor in Dimona, pointing out that it is run improperly.

The Israeli media and public opinion arenas have given a great interest to the report, directing bitter criticisms to the army and the famous newspaper " Yediot Aharonot " put this headline on its home page" the army needs a school".
A top Israeli strategist said that the content of the report did not surprise him except for one point because he got previously acquainted with results of checks inside the army, which started and ended before the latest war.
Replying to a question, this strategist denied that the Israeli army became backward, adding that " there are weakness points versus key points of strength in the army which the Americans come to learn and benefit from, the most important question is when will this disorder be mended. I do not mind that the Arabs think that our army has changed to the worse".
The strategist declared that the weakness points in the Israeli army is something normal that may hit other armies, pointing out that unveiling them indicates a courage because matters which some consider as sacred are being discussed, and added that " we do many searches and checks for cases of carelessness, and criticism is sharp here and I do not find a parallel to it in Western countries like France for example".
The strategist confirmed that the last war on Lebanon was an opportunity for Israel to know its defects, adding that" the war revealed, at the suitable time, the point of weakness and gaps and we thank God and praise Him for this". He refused to reveal the only point that surprised him in the report.
