FJP Press Release on Friday Demonstrations
Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Secretary General of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), stated that the FJP stresses the need to hand over power to civilians in compliance with the free will of the Egyptian people as expressed in free and fair elections of the People's Assembly and Shura Council as well as the presidential elections before 30 June 2012, in a stable environment that allows co-operation among all parties to take the country through the bottleneck to the shores of safety.

The FJP Secretary-General announced that whilst the party refrains from partaking in the Friday, 23 December 2011 demonstration, it supports the Egyptian people’s right to demonstrate and picket peacefully, and rejects any aggression or violence against the demonstrators, and calls for a speedy trial for those who attacked Egyptians – men or women – and killed demonstrators in the Cabinet clashes or other of events.
