During a meeting of Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Speaker of the People’s Assembly (PA), and Dr. Essam El-Erian, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, with a U.S. Congress delegation led by Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and the minority leader in Congress, and 6 Senators and members of the House.
The PA Speaker highlighted the need for everyone to commit to the law, and stressed parliament's rejection of the language of threats and blatant interference in the internal affairs of Egypt, through threats to use aid as a weapon.
Dr. Katatni said, “If the U.S. or any other power thinks that Egypt would accept these threats, they have not recognized or understood the changes that the country has witnessed after the downfall of the corrupt former regime. Anyone even thinking of breaching Egypt’s national security should learn that the Egyptian people will not accept any violations of its sovereignty, whatever the price or sacrifice. |
