Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), said that the General Shura Council of the Brotherhood convened in an emergency session, on Friday 16 March 2012, to discuss recent developments on the Egyptian political scene.

Further, Dr. Hussein explained that he discussed current attempts to disrupt and derail the course of a constitutional transfer of power and failure to respond to people's demands to change the government which failed to address and satisfy the requirements of the transitional phase.

The Council decided to convene next week to complete analysis and discussion of these major issues and consider all available options.
