MB: We Measure Our Public Support Directly From the People, Not Through Media

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Barr, Member of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB)’s Guidance Bureau, said that the MB is coming forth to save the nation, “History vouches for our resolve and our sacrifices, as we for decades stood in the face of oppressors no matter how powerful and how repressive”.

In an interview with the TV program “Studio 27’, on Egypt’s “First” satellite TV channel, Al-Barr said that “Right from the first spark of the January 25 revolution, the Brotherhood put Egypt's interests high above all else. And just as we considered toppling the corrupt regime, we planned how to create for the Egyptian people a system to ensure a life of freedom and dignity.

Further, Al-Barr said that Egyptian revolutionaries, including the MB, have made many sacrifices in order to build the strong Egyptian who stands in the face of injustice and corruption.

On rumors and reports circulating in the media, which claim declining popularity of the Egyptian MB, Al-Barr said: "No-one has ever told us that the popularity of the Brotherhood is on the rise. Indeed, according to the media and its ‘informed’ analysis, our popularity is always in sharp decline.

"The MB does not count too much on all these media reports and anecdotes. It relies, in the measurement of its popularity, on direct contact with real people in the street. And so we know whether people support our approach – through effective and direct interaction".
