British Ambassador in Cairo congratulates ‘Freedom and Justice’ on Morsi elections win, offers Britain’s support in all economic and technical fields, and hopes for bolstering bi-lateral cooperation.

Dr. Essam El-Erian, Vice-Chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), received Thursday afternoon, at the party’s headquarters, James Watt, British Ambassador in Cairo; Maqbool Ali, the embassy’s first secretary; and Ms. Amina Al-Ghamri, the ambassador’s secretary.

At the beginning of the meeting, the ambassador and his delegation congratulated the FJP on Dr. Mohamed Morsi winning the post of President of the Republic, confirming that it is a major step towards peaceful transition of power in Egypt.

For his part, Erian affirmed that the FJP seeks to build a sound democratic system to achieve security, stability, social justice and the independence of the judiciary, and to uphold the rule of law, so as to achieve the objectives of the January 25 revolution, within the context of human values consistent with Islamic Reference, which will ultimately lead to peaceful transfer of power through the ballot boxes via free and fair elections.

"Achieving the above is crucial for stimulating the Egyptian economy, which goes hand in hand with desired democratic transformation.

Meanwhile, Britain's ambassador in Cairo assured that the British government is ready and willing to assist Egypt in all fields of expertise, economy and bilateral cooperation, as well as through international institutions.
