Members of the Constituent Assembly (CA) entrusted with authoring Egypt’s new national charter affirmed that the initial draft officially published in newspapers and the media was released for community dialogue, to show discussions and developments that took place within the CA’s specialized committees.

During the Assembly’s plenary session Tuesday, Justice Hossam Ghariani, CA Chairman, described the released document as an initial draft subject to further amendment and revision.

Dr. Mohamed Beltagy, Rapporteur of the CA Committee on Suggestions and Community Dialogue, said this draft was released to prove that there is no ready-made constitution drawn out secretly by any parties or movements, but articles submitted for discussion and amendment.
