The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) expressed surprise at news reported by the media about government decisions to raise taxes on certain goods and services, and also to increase income and real estate taxes.

The FJP reiterated its permanent position, rejecting any economic policies that increase the burden on low-income citizens.

The FJP demanded the Prime Minister should freeze these decisions until they are submitted to the House of Representatives, once it is formed by elections. It is not acceptable that economic decisions affecting broad sectors of society should be made in the absence of Parliament and by a government formed in a transitional period and has not presented its budget to the people's representatives for discussion and approval.

The FJP demanded that these decisions should be discussed in the context of the State budget, to examine whether there is a substitute for such economic policies, with guarantees that such policies will not affect low-income citizens.
