Erian Denies Guardian Report; Affirms FJP and Brotherhood Never Met Military Putschists

FJP deputy leader Erian rejects as false a Guardian newspaper report that claimed the Muslim Brotherhood and its political arm had secret meetings with military usurpers of power.

Dr. Essam El-Erian, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Vice-Chairman, denied the British newspaper The Guardian’s report which claims that Dr. Mohamed Ali Bishr, Local Development Minister and FJP leading member, held secret meetings with some generals and army commanders, after the military coup.

"No Muslim Brotherhood or FJP leaders met with any putschist or coup commander ever... In fact, Major General Assar insisted on meeting with Dr. Bishr, through many respectable mediators; but Dr. Bishr refused."
