Suhaib Abdel-Maksoud, spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood students, denounced the repeated raids on Al-Azhar Mosque and University campus by police and hired thugs, and the wounding of two students with live ammunition and ten more with birdshot after students announced the end of their peaceful protest activities on Monday.

In an official statement, Abdel-Maksoud said these repeated violations "reflect the ugly face of the fascist coup forces that do not appreciate the role of science or the sanctity of blood of this homeland’s sons and daughters.

"The free and patriotic students of Egypt will not surrender their homeland to tyranny and repression, and will not be deterred by savage intimidation or terror. They will continue their peaceful approach to liberate Egypt from every power-grabbing putschist, and restore the free will of the people".
