Ahmed Baqri, head of Al-Azhar University Student Union, said the number of students permanently dismissed from their universities is about 400, of whom 92 were so dismissed on Saturday alone at Cairo University. He added that there are hundreds more students who have been suspended for one term or a whole academic year.

"It is quite remarkable that the students' resolve has neither wavered nor weakened in spite of this obvious brutality.

"Congratulations to Egypt's students who humiliated the repressive coup regime with their steadfastness and fortitude. The students' movement will continue its non-violent defiance activity until every student gets his rights and every martyr gets fair retribution."
