In a statement, Mohamed Soudan, member of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP, the Muslim Brotherhood's political arm), said he strongly condemns the Sydney incident Monday.
"This incident is a totally unacceptable act of violence. The Muslim Brotherhood and the FJP clearly reject all violence.
"Islam is innocent of this crime. It must not be linked to the incident or its perpetrator... Islam calls for peace, stability, security, justice and goodness."
On Monday, Australian police announced the end of the hostage-taking incident (by an Iranian) at a cafe in Sydney.
