Detainees in Wadi Natrun Prison (Beheira Governorate, north of Cairo, Egypt) began a total hunger strike to protest relentless inhuman torture including beatings – with sticks, iron pipes, hoses and whips – and electric shocks, even stabbings with knives on all parts of the body.

According to sources from inside the prison, 12 detainees were taken to an unknown location since Wednesday morning, and no-one knows their whereabouts until now.

The sources said that the torture campaigns are run and executed by detective chief Hani Lashin, officer Amr Wassif, officer Mohamed Beheiri, Detective Ali Salam, and Detective Abdel-Azim.
