The Arab Human Rights Network released a statement Thursday July 20, 2006, callling for the release of the MB prisoners of conscience, foremost among whom are Dr. Rashad Bayoumi , Dr. Essam el Eryan and Dr. Ibrahim el Zafarani, as well as other inmates who are in custody without charges. The agency stressed on the need to restrict the influence of the overbearing state security agencies which seriously affect the political life in Egypt.

The agency hailed the release of two Kifaya activists, but considered the step inadequate unless the authorities prosecute the officers who tortured them, and criticizing the former attorney general for failing to conduct any investigations despite of mounting evidence.
