The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt condemned the latest Israeli escalations in Lebanon and its targeting of civilians in Gaza killing more than 23 Palestinians including women and children in one day. In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Dr. Mohamed Habib, Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood criticized Israeli incursions in Gaza and south Lebanon and warned of dear consequences in the whole region as a result of the Israeli madness.

Dr. Habib described the actions by Palestinian and Lebanese resistance as “normal reaction to an ugley occupation which violated all international laws by targeting innocent civilians”, referring to the 19 UN resolutions accusing Israel of violating the terms of the Fourth Geneva Convention which deals with the protection of civilians in war and under occupation.

Dr. Habib considered the capture of Israeli soldier as “justified” stating that the soldiers are an occupation force and were seized in their military uniforms while engaging in an act of war and their capture is perfectly justified. Dr. Habib demanded that Israel release the thousands of Palestinian prisoners it holds in its jails including more than 400 children and 150 female prisoners
