The spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood’s bloc in the parliament, Hamdy Hassen, tabled a question to the Prime Minister concerning the government negligence in the crisis of the bird flu. According to the MP, the government did not take sufficient preventive measures and failed in handling the problem plunging people into a state of panic. Furthermore, the Egyptian poultry industry collapsed and Egypt lost its wealth of domestic fowl.

On Thursday, the Brotherhood’s lawmaker said in his explanatory memo that 20 billion pounds in investments become at risk. In addition, 2.5 millions workers in poultry sector joined a growing unemployed poplulation

The government manner of getting along the crisis reflected its fragility and neglect. Hassen indicated that the government and its departments have great capacities that qualify them to manage the problem especialy in the terms of its owned mass media which were unskillfully employed to contain the situation.

According to the MP, the real tragedy comes from the government failure in handling the crisis and its unwise decisions that ruined the poultry industry.
