Coercive Measures to Curb the Brotherhood’s Gains

Irked by the defeat it has suffered at the hand of the Muslim Brotherhood in the parliamentary polls, the government toke repressive measures to block further wins in the third round kicks off on December1 across six governorates.

Security forces launched arrest campaigns across all constituencies in which Brotherhood’s candidates are running. Police picked up scores of Brotherhood’s representatives, members, and supporters in today’s dawn raids. The number of detainees is still soaring.  The election-campaign organizers of the Brotherhood’s nominees were targeted. Propaganda tools, computer sets and posters, were confiscated. Security forces stormed Brothers’ houses searching and smashing belongings in a barbaric manner.
