The American Ambassador Follows the Egyptian Elections.
On Wednesday, the American Ambassador in Cairo, Richard Duffy, visited el-Garbiya governorate. He met the governor, businessmen, journalists and four of the AUC students.
Commenting on a question about the American reaction toward the results of the first parliamentary election, in which 34 of the Moslem Brotherhood’s nominees won, Duffy said that this outcome is a local affair and we respect the choice of the Egyptians, even if we do not recognize the Moslem Brotherhood for we do not allow any religious-oriented parties to be formed, yet, the Egyptian government is free to allow that. However, he expressed his concern about the contraventions committed either in parliamentary or student-union elections.
