Abu el-Fotoh: the Parliamentary Election will not be Fair

 Dr. Abdel Monam Abu el-Fotoh, a member of the Supreme Council of the Moslem Brotherhood, stressed that the Egyptian imminent parliamentary election will not be just due to many reasons. The control of the ruling National Democratic Party over the election is a prime reason. Besides, the emergency law is still in force. Moreover, the registered electorates are not scrutinized. In addition, the full judiciary supervision over the election is absent.

 In his statements for the satellite channel Abu Dhabi, on Nov.7th, Abu el-Fotoh condemned the lack of security protection for the MB candidates. Up till now, about 10.000 banners and posters were ripped. Furthermore, some Moslem Brotherhood nominees were attacked. 

Because of the recent political and social activity in Egypt, Abu el-Fotoh expected an increase in the popular participation in the election.

Commenting on a question whether the ’Islam is the remedy’ slogan would diminish the support for the Moslem Brotherhood, he said that the slogan is not restricted to certain group; it is public, for Moslems and Christians. In addition, the slogan reflects the national version of reform. "Let voters decide", he added.
