Tarek Al Hashemi, Iraqi vice-president and chairman of the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP) denied reports about IIP"s relations with Islamic Resistance Movement HAMAS in Iraq.

Al Hashemi said in a statement to Ikhwanweb that the Islamic Resistance Movement HAMAS in Iraq is the biggest wing that defected from the 1920 Revolution Brigades, one of the rationalized resistance groups that run the conflict and that have a considerable weight on the ground in several central governorates, especially Diyala .

Al Hashemi confirmed that the Iraqi Islamic Party has no relation with the resistance factions although the IIP considers as legitimate any armed resistence against occupation, guaranteed by divine laws, and international laws and covenants; the IIP leader poited out that all national powers should focus on and pay attention to the post-occupation pullout stage and prepare for participating in realizing full and quick stability to pave the way for rebuilding the country.

This requires that resistance factions to close ranks and have a joint political agenda and have a work program on which we can talk with the Iraqi government or foreign troops, added Al Hashemi .
